Rotor balancing

Services Rotor balancing

Unbalance of machine rotating parts causes increase of bearing load, and, thus, the load of the whole machine, causing increase in vibration level.

The forces resulting from displacement of the centre of gravity of rotating mass in relation to the rotation axis are proportional to rotor weight and rpms, and those forces cause damage to bearings, sealing, couplings, foundation and, via foundation, to other equipment and machinery. Also, the building structure, electronic equipment and people are affected. Frequently, the forces mentioned above are source of failures and increase in operation and maintenance costs.

Accurate rotor balancing reduces vibration and operation and maintenance costs, as well as increases machine operation time. We can check quickly, whether unbalance is the reason of increased machine vibration, and, if so, reduce it to the level required by you or the relevant standard.

Example:
Exhaust fan: rotor weight 400 kg; n = 1500 rpm
Original status
Bearing 1 = 6,80 mm/s; bearing 2 = 6,60 mm/s (RMS vibration rate)
Correction 1 - alignment of drive and fan
Bearing 1 = 3,20 mm/s; bearing 2 = 4,10 mm/s
Correction 2 - double-plane balancing
Bearing 1 = 0,95 mm/s; bearing 2 = 0,90 mm/s
